Mohammedan Sporting lift Kalinga Cup

Kolkata giants Mohammedan Sporting won the All-India Kalinga Cup Football Tournament, beating Vasco Sports Club (Goa) 2-1 in the floodlit final at the Barabati Stadium here today. J Alfred and Stanley Cyprin scored the two goals for Mohammedan Sporting, who bagged the top prize of Rs 3 lakhs.
Isa Alli reduced the margin for Vasco SC, who received Rs 2 lakhs.

All India Football Federation senior vice-president Subrat Dutta gave away the prestigious trophy at the closing function. State Sports Director Saswat Mishra, Odisha Olympic Association secretary Asirbad Behera, co-host Football Association Odisha president Debashish Samantray and secretary Sanjay Behera were present on the occasion.

Earlier in the semi-finals, Mohammedan Sporting upset defending champions Army XI (New Delhi) 5-3 in penalty shoot-out, while Vasco Sports Club edged out Sikkim United (Sikkim) 1-0 at the Barabati Stadium.
